Decorating a living room shouldn’t be too extravagant and expensive. If you are in a tight budget, you can always do it yourself instead of hiring an interior designer; but if you can afford to hire a good designer, then why not. You can plan ahead and check for designs on the internet or magazines to visualize the effect on your actual living room.
The American Traditional style of furniture was influenced by English and French styles. With time it evolved into a unique American style. The traditional living room furniture includes styles such as the clean and simple lines of Shaker furniture, the simplicity of the Mission style and similar styles from artisans in the Southwest and all corners of the country. American traditional style is thus a blend of several styles and it takes the best that every different style has to offer.
However, this would offer the perfect contrast to your black leather furniture, and certainly more suitable than the expensive brown leather recliner. A natural wood finish helps to keep the living space look open and spacious, and their solid construction will resist many knocks. Solid oak, and indeed solid pine, can be easily looked after - minor scratches and marks are easily sanded away and a light application of oil or wax will bring out the natural warmth and give the furniture a really mellow appeal. Cupboard space like this will give you plenty of room to tidy away toys, DVDs and books.
